If you’re looking for a wheelset that will give you mile upon mile of trouble free riding, then the Optima Roches will be right up your street.
Coupled with our unique MultiSys freehub body they work with Campagnolo, Shimano and SRAM setups, so you won’t need to change your wheels if you change your bike in future.
We recently let the nice people at Road.cc test a pair, and they’ve put them through a real workout.
For some reason, they mistook tubeless compatible with tubeless ready, which did result in some issues when tester Iwein tried to switch from clinchers to tubs. If you did want to switch to tubs, you’d need to run a tubeless rim tape and valve.
The wheels have endured some long road rides and heavily laden tours, and have even seen some cyclo-cross action.
Summing up in his review, Iwein says:
“These really are about as tough as they come, which is no mean feat for a pair of wheels that weigh 1725g, have a low spoke count and spin up fast enough to enjoy sprints. Like a good wheel, they are stiff without rattling the fillings, making them perfect for any kind of riding that requires a fast wheel that will take a battering.”
